There is no direct flight, train or bus line from Ho Chi Minh City to Hoi An or Hanoi to Hoi An. To get there,you have to arrive in Da Nang first.

You can stay in Da Nang for a few days to explore the third biggest city in Vietnam, then catch a bus from Da Nang to Hoi An. Hoi An Old Town is located only about 30km from the center of Da Nang city. There is no train station in Hoi An, so the only way to go there is by taxi or shuttle bus.

HANOI TO HOI AN
Hoi An travel from Hanoi is not different from the route from Ho Chi Minh to Hoi An. We have to fly from Hanoi to Da Nang, then from Da Nang to Hoi An.
A flight from Noi Bai International Airport to Da Nang International Airport usually costs between 700,000 – 1,300,000 VND/way and normally takes 1 hour 20 minutes. Domestic airlines such as Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, Vietjet Air, Vietnam Airlines and Vietravel Airlines all operate this route with a frequency of 2-15 flights per day, so you can easily choose your date.
If you are in HaLong Bay, Quang Ninh Province and want to explore Hoi An Vietnam, you must take a bus from HaLong Bay to HaNoi capital, then book a flight as recommend above, because there is no direct flight, train or bus from HaLong Bay to Hoi An.
There is only 1 bus station in Ha Long, Bai Chay bus station at address 17, street 279. Bai Chay, Ha Long City. You can get there to find a way back to Hanoi.
