HOW TO GET TO HUE IMPERIAL CITY?

For many people, Hue travel is very special because it’s an opportunity for them to see, feel and deeply understand about the last feudal dynasty of Vietnam.

HO CHI MINH TO HUE

To explore Hue tourist attractions, you can book a non-stop ticket from Ho Chi Minh to Hue. There are 3 domestic airlines that offer direct flights from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to Phu Bai International Airport. They are Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Pacific Airlines. The frequency of flights is medium low, about 2-6 flights per day. The airfares range from 900,000 – 1,300,000 VND per way depending on the season. Hue is 950 km from Ho Chi Minh City and it takes 1 hour 30 minutes to get there.

In case Hue is not the first destination that you would like to explore, you can fly from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, then from Da Nang, you can take a bus or train to Hue.

Looking on the map, you can see that Hue – Da Nang – Hoi An creates a triangle of tourism in Central Vietnam. Hue is above Quang Nam province where Hoi An Old Town is located and Da Nang is situated in the middle. Therefore, you can easily make a trip from Hue to Da Nang by bus, taxi or train. Da Nang is about 100km from Hue and it takes 2 hours to travel. With this short distance, there is no airline offering a flight from Phu Bai Airport to Da Nang Airport.

  • By bus

You can take a bus at Phia Nam Hue bus station, located on 97 An Duong Vuong, Zone 18, An Dong, Hue city to travel to Da Nang Center bus station. Bus routes will operate from 5 am to 19 pm with a frequency of 15 minutes/trip. Ticket price for passengers traveling throughout the route is 70,000 VND/passenger/way.

  • By train

From the city center, it only takes about 5 minutes by taxi or motorbike to get to Hue station, located at 02 Bui Thi Xuan, Hue city. The railway line from Hue station to Da Nang station is about 103 km long, including 5 trains: SE1, SE3, SE5, SE7 and TN1. The train departs every day and takes about 2.5 hours.  The train tickets are different based on the types of seats. 55,000 VND for Hard seat, 114,000 VND for Soft seat, 146,000 VND for Sleeper 6-berth and 162,000 for Sleeper 4-berth.

Hue to Hoi An

There is no train station in Hoi An so the best way to get there from Hue is by shuttle bus. Hoi An is 126 km from Hue and it takes around 3 hours and a half to travel. There are lots of Open Tours offering buses from Hue to Hoi An. The ticket is 110,000 VND.

HANOI TO HUE

If you are from the North of Vietnam, the best way to go to Hue is taking a flight from Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi to Phu Bai International Airport in Hue. It takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes. You can easily book an air ticket with Vietnam Airline, Vietjet Air, Vietravel Airlines, Pacific Airlines and Bamboo Airways. The price ranges from 660,000 to 2,000,000 VND.
